Coaching Experience
Joe grew up in the Chicagoland area, playing AAA hockey for Team Illinois. He went on to play 3 years at the Junior level in Minnesota and New York, then attended Adrian College and Trine University playing for their respective club programs. During 2019, his senior year, Joe helped build Dynamic Hockey Development, a skill development program based in Chicago.
Joe’s coaching career began with the Maine Nordiques as the program skills coach (16u-NAHL) and was the 16u head coach for 3 years before moving to the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite as the skills coach and 14u head coach. In 2024, Joe created a new development program called Laskero Hockey Academy based out of the Detroit Metro area where he will offers private lessons and group sessions for all age groups and skill levels.
Joe’s training focuses on in-game transferable skills. Beginning with power skating, edge work and puck control then hopping into in-game situational plays. For d-men working on puck retrievals; blue line work, regroups, gap control etc. Forwards work on learning to catch passes all over the vicinity of the players stick/body, wall scrapes, zone entries, net front play and much more.
